Proven Effectiveness and Tolerability

• Efficacy and tolerability data for SINGULAIR 5 mg chewable tablet in two to five
year olds were obtained from a double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study of
689 patients - the largest study ever conducted among asthmatic children aged
two to five. A total of 461 patients received SINGULAIR 5 mg and 228 received
placebo over 12-weeks of therapy. Patients in the study had a history of
physician-diagnosed asthma with at least three episodes (such as coughing,
wheezing and shortness of breath) within the year prior to the study. Findings
of the study showed that:
• SINGULAIR 5 mg significantly improved the ability of children with asthma
as young as two years of age to continue their daily activities;
• the tolerability profile of SINGULAIR 5 mg in children aged two to five years
was similar to placebo. Side Effects
• Side effects for SINGULAIR were similar to those reported for placebo.
• The recommended dosage for SINGULAIR 5 mg in pediatric patients aged two to
